Privacy Policy
Last updated: 9 July 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Make Sure I Know It ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website and services (the "Platform") at makesureiknowit.com.
2. Information We Collect
- Account information you provide when registering, such as your name and email address;
- Submission information when you request a map, report feedback, or contact us — such as company name, contact details, and message content;
- Payment & billing information when you subscribe to a paid plan — such as your billing name, country, the plan purchased, and transaction details. Payments are processed by our payment provider, DodoPayments, acting as merchant of record; we do not collect or store your full card number;
- Usage & product analytics, such as pages visited, companies viewed, searches, and clicks on key actions (for example viewing pricing, starting an upgrade, or completing a purchase). Some of this is stored in our own systems (first-party analytics) and some is collected through Google Analytics. Where you are signed in this may be linked to your account; where you are not, it may be linked to an anonymous identifier stored on your device. Our own first-party analytics only records after you accept analytics cookies; before then, Google Analytics runs in a cookieless, privacy-preserving mode that measures aggregate usage without storing cookies on your device (see Section 4).
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- operate, maintain, and improve the Platform;
- respond to map requests, feedback, and support requests;
- personalize your experience, such as remembering search preferences;
- send you service-related communications;
- maintain the security and integrity of the Platform.
4. Cookies & Similar Technologies
We use cookies and local storage for a few distinct purposes:
- Essential — to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. These are necessary for the Platform to work and are always on.
- Functional identifier — an anonymous identifier stored on your device that lets us apply free daily view limits to visitors who aren't signed in. It's required to deliver that part of the service.
- Analytics — to understand how the Platform is used, through both Google Analytics and our own first-party analytics stored in our systems. Our first-party analytics records only after you accept via our cookie banner. Google Analytics uses Google Consent Mode: until you accept it runs without cookies, measuring only aggregate usage; if you accept, it also uses analytics cookies. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set. You can change your mind at any time — the banner is shown again periodically, and clearing your browser storage resets your choice.
You can also control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling essential cookies may affect some features. Separately, when you sign up or subscribe we record that conversion to measure our own service; this is not based on cookies and is covered by Sections 2 and 8.
5. How We Share Information
We don't sell your personal information. We may share it with:
- cloud hosting, database, and authentication providers that operate the Platform (including Supabase);
- our payment provider, DodoPayments, which acts as merchant of record to process subscription payments and applicable taxes;
- analytics providers, such as Google Analytics, that help us understand how the Platform is used;
- email delivery providers, such as Resend, used to send service-related messages;
- authorities, where required by law.
6. Data Retention
We retain account and submission information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services, resolve disputes, and meet our legal obligations. Analytics and usage events are kept for up to 14 months and then automatically deleted. You can ask us to delete your personal information sooner, as described in Sections 7 and 8.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.
8. Your Rights in the EEA & UK (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR. These include the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal information, and the right to data portability. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
We process your personal information on the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract — to provide the Services and your paid subscription;
- Legitimate interests — to operate, secure, and improve the Platform;
- Consent — for example, for analytics cookies;
- Legal obligation — to comply with applicable law.
We are based in India, and your information may be processed in countries outside the EEA or UK whose data-protection laws differ from your own. Where we transfer personal information internationally, we take steps to keep it protected, including using providers that offer appropriate safeguards. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection supervisory authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
10. Children's Privacy
The Platform isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above, and material changes may be communicated through the Platform.
