HP Inc. sells more PCs and printers than almost anyone on earth, but much of the factory work is done by other companies. In its latest annual report, HP says it uses "outsourced manufacturers around the world to manufacture HP-designed products," and also builds some finished products itself from parts it buys in. The silicon inside comes from a small group of chip partners.

The short answer

HP's supply chain has three main pieces:

• Manufacturing sites: HP lists its main product development and manufacturing facilities in the US, Mexico, Israel, Spain, China, India, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan.
• Assembly: Foxconn (Hon Hai Precision Industry) contract-manufactures and assembles HP PCs and servers at scale in Taiwan and China.
• Chips: Intel and AMD processors power most HP laptop and desktop lines, and NVIDIA supplies the discrete GPUs in HP's gaming and workstation machines.
• Distribution: retailers like Best Buy sell the finished hardware to consumers and businesses.

Where are HP's manufacturing facilities?

HP's annual report for fiscal 2025 (Form 10-K) lists the locations of its major product development and manufacturing facilities:

• Americas: Tijuana in Mexico, and Boise, Corvallis, Fort Collins, Fountain Valley, Palo Alto, San Diego, Scotts Valley, Spring and Vancouver in the US.

Who assembles HP PCs?

HP is more a design and brand company than a manufacturer. Most assembly goes to Foxconn, the same Taiwanese contract manufacturer that builds iPhones for Apple. Foxconn runs the production lines that turn HP's engineering specs and sourced components into finished laptops, desktops, and servers, largely out of facilities in China and Taiwan.

That is a geopolitical dependency. A large share of HP's production sits in a manufacturing base concentrated in one region, and most of the PC industry has the same exposure.

Who supplies the chips inside HP hardware?

Nearly every HP laptop and desktop runs on an Intel or AMD processor. On the graphics side, NVIDIA supplies the discrete GPUs found in HP's Omen gaming line and its workstation-class machines. These aren't exclusive arrangements, but Intel and NVIDIA in particular are hard to substitute at the volumes HP ships.

HP has also moved beyond PCs and printers. In August 2022 it completed its purchase of Poly (Plantronics), a maker of headsets and video conferencing hardware, in a deal valued at $3.3 billion including Poly's net debt.

Where HP sells

Once assembled, HP's hardware moves through retail and enterprise channels. Best Buy is a major consumer storefront for HP laptops and peripherals in the US, one of many retail and e-commerce partners that get the hardware in front of buyers.
