No single company sells more semiconductor manufacturing equipment than Applied Materials. Its deposition, etch, ion-implant, and chemical-mechanical polishing systems show up in nearly every advanced fab on the planet, which makes its customer list effectively a roster of the entire chip industry.
The short answer
Applied Materials sits at the center of chip manufacturing:
TSMC, the world's largest foundry, is Applied's biggest customer, buying fab tools by the billions of dollars to build out leading-edge capacity. Samsung Electronics runs Applied's deposition and etch systems across its memory and foundry lines, and Intel is racing to rebuild its own leading-edge capacity with new fabs in the US and Europe, much of it tooled with Applied equipment. On the memory side, Micron Technology and SK hynix both depend on Applied's tools for DRAM, NAND, and the high-bandwidth memory AI accelerators need.
What goes into an Applied Materials tool
Applied doesn't build every component of its own machines. MKS Instruments supplies vacuum, gas-delivery, RF power, and process-control modules that go inside the finished tool. Advanced Energy Industries provides the precision power-delivery and RF-matching subsystems that drive the plasma in Applied's deposition and etch chambers.
